David Moreno (@davidmoreno_art) is an artist from Barcelona, Spain. His sculptures are structured by painstakingly attaching hundreds of pieces of piano wire and steel rods to create wirey house structures. The structures are colored in coral paint David Moreno says he’s attempting to “[draw] sculptures” and the art feels like it’s turning 2D art into 3D.
Island of Monsters is an imaginary place but the performers that dress up as spirits and ghost inhabitants are very real. The photographer, Charles Fréger, says that the Japanese use the word ‘monsters’ to refer to fantastic objects, ghosts, or demons.
Fréger took the photos in Japan and compiled the series into a book – Yokainoshima: Island of Monsters. The book also features folkloric essays of the Island spirits.
